During a winter storm there was an ice jam that completely wiped out the existing Highway 12 bridge over the Niobrara River causing travel nightmares for the residence of Niobrara. United Contractors worked as a sub to Hawkins Construction Company to construct new access for the residence in the fastest manner possible.

To accomplish this, United Contractors put in a temporary work bridge and an ACROW bridge, that would be utilized by pedestrian traffic, in the span of just a few short months. Once the temporary solution was in place United turned its attention to the permanent solution and build half of the new Highway 12 bridge over the Niobrara River with Hawkins building the other half.
